DIRECTOR, FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION

The Population Council is an international, non-profit, non-governmental institution that seeks to improve the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generation around the world and help achieve a humane, equitable and sustainable balance between people and resources, The Population Council has worked in collaboration with a very broad range of Nigerian institutions, The Council's program includes the design and testing of innovative HIV &AIDS and Reproductive Health approaches and policy and program relevant research, training, and institutional strengthening, and is supported by a range of dollars.
The Population Council is seeking a professional to serve as Director, Finance and Administration in its Abuja office in Nigeria.
Director Finance &Administration:

• The Director, Finance and Administration will be responsible for the efficient administration of accounting, human resources, and facilities in the office and the continuing communication between the local office and the headquarters office in New York.
• The Director Finance and Administration will collaborate with the Country Director in all these areas under her/his direct supervision.
• Along with an appropriate staff, the Director Finance and Administration will implement and manage successful systems for accounting, financial human resource and information systems.

Key responsibilities
Financial Administration, Donor Submissions and Management of Grants, Human Resource Administration, Office Administration.

Qualification
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or Administration or related field, Advance degree preferred, or an acceptable combination of experience and education.
• Minimum of 8-1 0 years of relevant professional experience in international organizations, with an emphasis in civil societies and human rights organizations/NGOs;
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work both independently and under guidance from Country Director and staff colleagues in New York;
• Ability to work effectively within legal systems in Nigeria affecting employment tax withholding and reporting;
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
• Proficiency with office systems including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel. Outlook, PowerPoint);
• Payroll management systems; scanning, faxing, skyping;
• Proficiency in written and oral English
• Willingness to travel both within Nigeria and overseas, as required.
